With the housing transition behind us, YAY!, the next chapter in this saga is Jessica. To refresh, this is Jessica: She’s named after Jessica Rabbit: “I’m not bad, I was drawn this way”… Love that movie BTW. But, I digress. After much deliberation, it’s been decided that we will give someone else the pleasure of enjoying Jessica’s manifold benefits. The reasons are many: Space. The house in Reston provided for ample space for the three cars. Jessica and the MDX in the garage with Pilotto living outside. Unfortunately, here we have no such luxury. With all the “stuff” in the garage, there is only space for one car. Currently Jessica,…
Just another day in the neighborhood
So this week saw us continuing the “repackaging” of the house prior to calling a realtor to list it for sale. We boxed up a bunch of stuff in the closets of the downstairs bedrooms, and moved a goodly number of the bins out of the closets to reduce the clutter. One of the decisions made last weekend was to get rid of the album collection. There are 4 boxes of LP’s (Long Playing Recording) consisting of some 270+ albums that were boxed up in the clean up after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Yes, the last time these things saw the light of day was some 15+ years ago. Time…
Keeping up with the resolutions
One of the resolutions I published last week was to more actively post here on the blog. So, HERE WE GO! As mentioned last time, Melanie and I have decided to sell the house that we have owned since we moved to Northern Virginia in 2007. So yesterday we began the process by starting to organize what stays, what goes, etc. We have five categories: Orange – Not certain at this juncture Blue – Short term storage (during the sale) Yellow – Long term storage Green – Donate to charitable organizations (Restore, GoodWill, etc) Pink – Stay in the house for staging Two bedrooms were subjected to this process yesterday…
Happy New Year!
The requisite New Years’ post…. It seems like the only time I make myself sit down and do this is around New Years. H’mmm, what’s that saying? Dunno. In any event, onward and upward. I will finish the posting I started in the summer (?), but most likely not today. Someone described 2020 as the longest year of their life. Maybe it was true for them, but we have had worse. The year after Hurricane Katrina will always have that title for us. This year was, as the same for most people, adjusting to the new norm of lines, facemasks and limited availability of items at the grocery. We do…
Time
This is probably going to be a bit long, so get yourself a hot beverage, sit down and have a read. Like virtually the entire world, I was sent home on March 19th and told to “Socially Distance” myself from others. OK; Interesting. The non-stop cacophony regarding the COVID-19 pandemic from the Main Stream Media (MSM) had begun, and the short term implications were fairly ominous. The one thing the MSM revels in is what we call FUD in the technical business. Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt. But enough of that, this is about an awakening, of sorts. The first days were filled with a mixture of splendor/dread emotions. Being off…
futzing around with the site
So I managed to bugger up the site formatting pretty nicely, so I decided to reset it and choose a different theme. Twenty-Thirteen was chosen as I like the format and can figure out how to format it to my likes. What was wanted was a theme where the post showed in its entirety and the user didn’t have to click on a link to read the rest of the post. May change that in the future, but for now, this is it. Wouldn’t surprise me to migrate to something else in the future once I get a little more WordPress knowledgeable though. Cheers!
