Done, done and done……

Well, fair readers, most of the gyrations are complete.

  • The Menu is set up. Three choices, Home, Images and Contact. Give them a try. Lemme know if’n they don’t work for you.
  • The Image page has a list of links to image pages with a copy of the featured image from the page.
  • The contact page just e-mails me. If it becomes problematic, I’ll remove it.
  • The images pages were reconfigured from a straight WordPress Gallery to a FileBird Gallery. This was partially driven by the use of a plugin to “reconstruct” the images. It seems that it did away with many of the image files that WP uses so something had to be done to clean it up. The Filebird Gallery works fairly well. It allows me to sort per a number of criteria. For whatever reason, the way I name my images gives these gallery things conniptions. They wanted to list the images with the highest number first, which is opposite to what I wanted. The images are numbered in chronological order, so, typically, that is how I want them displayed.

The big task left is to:

  • Edit all the content. Reading through this again has produced a plethora of fat finger moments throughout. Maybe I can get my loving wife to proofread for me??
  • I need to dig into the format setting a wee bit. Currently, if two images are posted one right after the other, it doesn’t provide any whitespace between them. It’s easy enough to insert a blank line between them, but this isn’t a particularly elegant solution.
  • References to a goodly number of images are gone thanks to the reconstruct do-hicky. It’s easy enough to fix, just that there are over a hundred posts to go through. It’ll get it done, but not today…
  • The display on portable devices is not exactly like I want. Instead of the three menu items, it says menu. Need to look into that.

So, there was a goodly number of photographic activity since my last photo post. So next time we will talk about a trip to we took to New Orleans and Baton Rouge last year.

Take care, and check back soon.
